Dear Citizens:
Have you made your New Year’s resolution yet? I want to encourage everyone in Hutto to set a resolution for 2011 to recycle and incorporate green practices around your home and business. These are things that will benefit our community.
Within the City of Hutto there are many opportunities for one to recycle. They range from the weekly pick up of residential recycling bins by Clawson Disposal to city-wide clean up events. There are many more opportunities that include the Williamson County Recycling Center, the City of Hutto Recycling Trailers, Hazardous Household Waste Vouchers, HEB Bag recycling program, and so much more. The close proximity of these resources make it easy to recycle and properly dispose of waste.
Be sure and visit the City’s “Green Hutto” (www.greenhutto.com) homepage for many wonderful tips and ideas that will help your family with recycling and going green.
I hope that each of you join me by setting a resolution that will benefit all of us. If you are currently recycling, thank you and keep it up. If not, then let’s get started together. My best to you and your family in this new year of 2011!
David F. Begier
Mayor
City of Hutto

Being ‘Green’ is definitely a noble new years resolution.
there’s so much we can do in the recycling part of it that it could be overwhelming to start but this is something we have to start.
Greetings Mayor Begier!
How grand to see your recycle blog! Thought I would post a note as an update for you. Your interest in supporting our initiative left a big impression on us while attending the TML conference in Corpus this October! We have continued our efforts, and thus far we have 26 counties, including Travis, Harris, and Dallas counties that have studied and decided that the 5-10c deposits on beverage containers would be a good deal for citizens and cities alike!
I hope you have gathered your mayors and we can see a united resolution from your group! Deposits are the most successful mechanism to collect the largest number of containers from the greatest number of people for the longest duration of time….40 years in the US alone! We have extra resolutions on our home webpage http://www.texasbottlebill.com if you need extra!
Best regards to the new year with a new way to recycle!
